Team Projects

Infinite Possibility
This 1.2 ton Möbius Strip is the first student-designed sculpture on Brown's campus. It is strong enough for students to climb on and includes a 'noon mark' sundial that shows the time of year everyday at noon.
Pictured on the left is the engineer who made the sculpture along with us five students who designed it and orchestrated the process.

Leaf Grinder
As a volunteer for ALLFED, I am making an open source leaf grinder design for leaf protein extract from tree/crop leaves. The goal is for this to be used if there is an agricultural collapse so that we can make leaves digestible by humans as a temporary food source. Report and other project files can be found here.

Dementia in Assisted Care Homes
This was a 6 person team project I led where we investigated the question "How can we make life more engaging for people with dementia living in care homes?"
Our final design is a new volunteering system and website that matches care home residents and volunteers based on mutual interests.

DIY Soap Film Tunnel
Soap Film Tunnels are great ways to visualize the flow around solid objects and learn about fluid dynamics. Although, currently they are only used in academic research so we designed a cheap and simple version that people can build using our Instructables page.

I did this project with two other students as part of an Advanced Fluid Dynamics course. To see our process, check out our first blog post, and final blog post.

Video Analysis of Robotic Car to Design Control System
As a final project for a control systems engineering course, I worked with another student on building a robotic car and using video analysis to design a control system for it to keep a constant distance away from any object.
This project is now being adopted by the course instructor as a new lab for the course.
